Thanks to all the mamas that made it out last night. It was so nice to meet new moms and to see all my favorites. Everyone is always welcome at MNO. It’s always the third Thursday of the month and I have it on the calendar and post an invite on Facebook.
After the advice of some of the ladies from last night, I decided to do a Five for Friday again. You can see the one I did waaay back in the beginning here. You can read about how and where I grew up here and here. And you can read all about my hubby here or by searching “Workout Wednesday” on this blog. I feel like you already know all about me, so I hope this isn’t redundant.
Currently Coveting:
I really feel like a hypocrite, but I have a confession. I “covet” a ton of stuff. I tell you guys all the time to “turn what you have into enough” and to enjoy the small things in life. But the bottom line is I covet all kinds of things. On a good day you have to pry it out of me, but on a tough day….watch out. I’m currently coveting long, thick mermaid hair, a nanny, more hours in the day, a new rack, smooth-glowing-from-inside-without-wrinkles skin, a vacation home in Tahoe and another at the ocean, and a full time graphic designer and all around web guru.
But right now I’m choosing to focus on a large piece of land. Not just any large piece of land. One smack in the middle of my neighborhood and, preferably, on our street. It’s truly impossible. Here’s what I want on that land.
A large chicken coop.
Huge vegetable garden that includes tons of fruit trees.
A pool with a pool house, naturally.
This playground for the kiddos
An old barn for storage, with a separate painting room, and space for all my DIY projects.
That’s really not that much to ask for, right?
I really love…
The fact that on Sundays my husband has started a new ritual. He goes out very early to get me a coffee and the newest US Mag. He delivers that and my laptop to my bedside and tells me he’s going to hang with kids and give them a snack. And, whenever I’m ready, he wants to take us all to breakfast at our favorite spot. That’s my dream you guys! TV, laying around, the morning sun, trashy mags, caffeine slowly waking me up, crying that I don’t have to deal with, and a great mystery with FF. (Fast Forward) Unfortunately, it usually all ends around 8:30 or 9:00am at the latest.
Guilty Pleasure…
This is the second part of the above story. On those lazy Sundays, I like to watch the newest Dateline featuring the dreamy Keith Morrison. I love that silver fox and his deep, hypnotic voice. He is the best storyteller ever. He tells you about a grizzly murder, but the sweet sounds of his voice feel more like a cozy bedtime story. I tell my husband that I love all those lines on his face. They each tell a story that I can’t wait to hear. Nick thinks this is actually hilarious, but then gets totally bent out of shape when I tell him to be quiet because Keith is on. See, that’s a guilty pleasure. But, I know for a fact that there’s one other mama out there that feels the exact same way as me!
Fave beauty items:
Still loving the CE Ferulic and Latisse. They are the best of the best! I’ve been using Latisse for almost two years and I haven’t had any side effects. The only issue I had was in the beginning. Your eyes itch before you get used to the stuff. And it takes about 14-16 weeks to see the full effects, that’s a long time!! FYI – You need a prescription for latisse. I get both products at Calkin and Boudreaux in Sacramento. LOVE that office.
Recent mommy moment…
I shared this one on Facebook about a week ago, but here’s the full story.
I had the pleasure of going to my niece’s last day of school mass at my old elementary school. She sang in the choir like an angel. I totally had tears in my eyes. Yes it was touching, but the tears were mainly because my 2yo had a “shit-uation”. I only realized this after he was sitting on my lap during the homily. I chose white pants that day…
Baptismal font at the kids baptism in 2011
If you’ve ever been to Catholic school, you’ll totally get this. This was a student mass, meaning all 9 (k-8) classes were there. Only a handful of parents were there and we were sitting in a different section from the students. In order to take my son to the bathroom, I had to walk by the gated baptismal font (looks like a wishing well) then walk by the pews all the classes were sitting in. When you are the kid in a student mass, you are dying to see any kind of excitement. The moment I got up with my kids all 315 student’s eyes were on me…and my 2yo who was scaling the 3 foot gate to try to get into the baptismal font area. After I got him down he began to stomp like a dinosaur. (We are still walking by the kids in the pews. They can’t stop staring at our train wreck.) It echoed as he was saying, “I’m a T-Rex, stomping through the forest. I’m the biggest dinosaur in the cretaceous forest.”.
On the way back to our pew from changing him and doing damage control on my pants, he decided to baptize the tiny diny he had in his hand by dunking him in the holy water. Then he yelled, “He’s all clean mom!!”. I’m sure St. John was impressed, but I was mortified. I mean, my old PE teacher, Mr. Poindexter was there!
XOXO
