Fall is here!

Fall is here!

I know the official start of fall was actually last week, but this week had cooler nights and mornings and the smell of rain.  That’s the official start of fall for me.  Fall is here!

This weekend we had an Indian summer Saturday with warm temps and swimming!  On Sunday we bundled up and headed up to Apple Hill only to get caught in a bit of a downpour.  A little rain didn’t stop us from hay mazes, feeding farm animals, eating apples, and painting pumpkins.  It was a muddy and wet day of fall fun.  On the way home, we even stopped at a U-pick strawberry farm.

In August my fall loving daughter started begin me on a daily basis to decorate for fall and put away all the summer and back to school decor.  So, s few weeks ago, and by that I actually mean around Sept. 4th, she asked again and I finally gave in because, you know, I love fall.  Here’s a sneak peek at some of our fall flair.  I add stuff each year, but my favorite addition is that old chippy window pane on the mantle in the background.  I picked that baby up for a steal at the Folsom Antique Fair this month.  It’s from a Victorian that was built in 1870.  I still want to try a few more tweaks to the mantle before it will be just right.  In a couple of weeks the mantle will change again to make it spooooooooky, but for now it’s all about gratitude, orange, and owls.  Very fallish.

In other fall news, I’m LOVING the Crocktober concept.  Have you heard of this before?  Basically people are going crockpot crazy for the month of October.  I was first introduced to this topic last October by my dear friend Megan.  She started a Crocktober FB page where she shared a crockpot recipe that she actually made every day.  I was very inspired by her posts and tried a ton and loved them.  She has graciously agreed to inspire us every Monday in October by posting one of her delicious recipes here!  Love that!  Be sure to “like” her page and scroll through her timeline to see the recipe’s she posted that year.  You’ll get recipes for things like: Coffee Mug Brownies, Buffalo Chicken Dip, Crab Bisque, and Chicken Cordon Bleu… just to name a few!  In honor of this, I’ve started a Crocktober Pinterest board for even more inspiration!  You can follow that board here.  If you have a crockpot recipe that you would like to share email me at mamamomtourage {at} gmail {dot} com.  I would love to feature it on the blog!

Are you this excited that Fall is here??
